Changing Unwanted Behavior with Hypnosis
Despite what you might see in the media or on YouTube, people are not in the habit of "shooting themselves in the foot" or "banging their heads against the wall" for no reason whatsoever. Every single thing a person does they do it for a reason. Now the individual may not always have a conscious reason or explanation for their behaviors but you can be guaranteed that there is a subconscious motivation for all of their actions.
SUBCONSCIOUS MOTIVATORS
While hypnosis is a subconscious process we still need to take into consideration both parts of the mind: The Conscious Mind and The Subconscious Mind. Generally speaking the Conscious Mind is the portion of our waking/aware mind that we use for analyzing, logic, decision making. The Subconscious Mind is the storage house of our long term memories, the seat of our emotions, the source of our imagination.
The relationship of the Conscious and Subconscious can be likened to the relationship of a rider and a horse. The rider representing the Conscious Mind, the will power. The horse represents the Subconscious Mind. Who do you think is in control? The conscious (rider) or the subconscious (horse)? Lets examine the relationship: the rider wants to take the trail to town and whips the horse to move forward and away they go. It appears the rider is in control. Now look, there is a snake on the trail that only the horse notices. The horse suddenly has a change in priorities and veers off the trail to avoid the snake. In fear it retreats from the danger regardless how hard that rider whips him. Now who do you think is in control?
This is why you may have found it difficult to change a habit or pattern of behavior with conscious will power. The subconscious may have another idea in mind. Your subconscious mind may have other priorities, other needs to be met, perhaps retreating in fear like the horse or reverting back to old behaviors.
In your hypnotherapy sessions it will be vitally important to explore and discover subconscious motivators. Once your Conscious Desires and the Subconscious Motivators are in agreement/alignment you will be well on your way down the path to attain the change you desire.
Imagine having healthy, positive productive behaviors that enable you to achieve success in all areas of your life.
