Stress Relief
Hypnosis for Stress Reduction, Stress Management
Your teeth are clenched, your breathing is shallow, your skin feels hot, your muscles are tense all over, your stomach is in a knot, your hearts is pounding wildly against your chest. You are experiencing the common physical symptoms of stress. It is the body and mind's Fight, Flight or Freeze response to danger.
But STOP for a moment and take a deep breath. Start to think purposefully. Are you really in any danger? Are you being chased by a pack of wolves? Are you in a life and death situation? If you really are in serious danger than call 911 now. HOWEVER, if you have evaluated in the brief seconds it took you ask youself those questions that you are NOT actually in any danger and want to stop this silly cycle then read on.
What happened is that at some point your mind merely IMAGINED danger and reacted automatically with its self-preservation instincts. The blood in your body was directed away from internal functions like digestion so blood can be moved quickly to the limbs to prep your body to fight, flee or freeze in order to protect itself and survive. During the stress response experience, blood was even directed away from the brain so your thoughts probably felt confused, scrambled and you weren't able to think clearly.
You have the ability to stop a stress reaction as quickly as one starts. All you have to do is take a few deep breathes and imagine something calming. Seriously, if your body reacted that wilding to an imagined idea of danger...you have the ability to imagine something completely different like calm comforting images or ideas. As long as you hold onto the secure comforting thoughts, your muscles will relax, blood will move back to the internal organs, back to the brain, your bronchials will relax, your breathing will deepen, your mind will clear....again, as long as you choose to think safe, secure, relaxing thoughts.
Now the real question is: do you really want to change your thinking? That might sound like a dumb question. But evaluate for a moment, how often have you started to calm yourself down only to start right back up into the same stinkin' thinkin' that got you stressed out in the first place? You found yourself focused on the negative again and the vicious cycle of the stress response started all over. Sometimes the reason that happens is because you've become addicted to your own negative thinking. Like an adrenaline junkie who just can't get enough! If you are reading this right now and the words are hitting home, then I'm guessing you have had enough! You are ready or at least seriously considering learning a new way of doing, a new way of behaving, a way of training your brain to respond more productively to life's situations. Yes? Well, my friend, you have come to right place. My hypnosis processes work directly with the subconscious mind; that same part of your brain that controls the sympathetic and para sympathetic nervous system, although the nervous symptom isn't the cause of the stress. It is the fearful thinking, perceptions, beliefs, ideas that stimulate the imagination in turn stimulating the stress response in the body. The subconscious mind also happens to be the area of the brain where your imagination resides so you can understand how quickly an imagined idea influences the nervous system which then becomes a physical response. Hypnotherapy will help you get to the root of those negative perceptions, change them so you no longer react the same way to trigger events.
